Legal eagles flock together, swoop toward tech clients.

Pleasanton-based Hallgrimson McNichols LLP has joined forces with Oakland-based Randick and O'Dea and named Nickolas Tooliatos the new law firm's managing partner.  The firm will be called McNichols Randick O'Dea & Tooliatos LLP.

The merged company seeks to better serve existing client bases and to meet the demands of the growing numbers of high-tech companies in the area.  "The Pleasanton/Tri-Valley area is becoming the next extension of Silicon Valley with a lot of growth in high tech.  The two companies share 30 years of friendship and 15 years of working together.  We had talked on several occasions about economic growth and the niches lent themselves to our deciding to combine our talents," says Tooliatos.

The firm has already attracted several emerging companies, including Starcom Technology Inc., Contour Computer Service Inc., Cyte-M, Global Applied Solutions and Mt. Diablo Bank.

"The challenge will be in making sure we embrace the changes that are expected of the legal community by the high-tech firms, adopting new technology and being able to provide near instantaneous response," Tooliatos says.  Additionally, the firm hopes to increase the number of lawyers in the East Bay/Tri-Valley area to 30.

Tooliatos served as chief financial officer for Hallgrimson McNichols and has also served in the Army reserve for 20 years, leading groups in the summer as a battalion commander.  "We have a great core of people and a commitment to a common goal.  My desire is to make this as efficient as possible and keep our efforts focused."
