DETAIL:

On August 6, 1992 at 0830 a series of search warrants were served in three counties (Santa Clara, Stanislaus, and Alameda) by a task force of agencies investigating the theft of hard disk drives and products of the Quantum Corporation located in San Jose.

In a joint investigation by Fremont Police Department, Internal Revenue Services, San Jose Police, assisted by officers of the Santa Clara and Ceres Police Departments search warrants were served on the residences and businesses of the above named suspects.

In July 1992, Ofc. Curt Codey of the Fremont Police received information from an informant that Burley and Kucera were selling stolen computer hard drives. One stolen drive was purchased and search warrants on their residence and place of business in West Pittsburgh revealed additional hard drives. CYTE-M investigations, consultant to Quantum Corporation assisted in the identification of the stolen property. The trail leads back to San Jose. Based on further investigation Sgt. Jim McMahon of the High Tech Detail obtained search warrants for the residences of the suspects Helou and Sanchez. The multi agency work group served the warrants simultaneously today.

Person having information about this case or others involving High Technology issues are encouraged to contact Sgt. Jim McMahon of Officer Steve Swartzendruber at (408) 277-4521.
